HERE AND THERE ON NEW LAMBULANE

Without delving deep we can understand that New Lambulane is one of the biggest and advanced Eimi localities in and around Imphal city. It lies in the heart of the city and therefore is an important strategic point for all Eimis who come down from hill districts. The kind of educated peoples, officers and rich peoples that it has produced proclaim loud and clear that it is no less than any Meitei localities in Imphal. It is the pride of not just the Lambulaners but also of our hill brethrens.

But it occurs to me that New Lambulane has failed terribly in public domain. More concrete buildings rose up while the road plummeted to its hell-like condition. Houses are clean and smell good but the drainage and its surrounding are unappealing and smelly. In summer, odourless powder like dust hovers in the air, leaves the unwanted dust particles in bedrooms, kitchens, common rooms etc. Dust does not differentiate between who is rich and who is poor. All are suffering equally from this horrible condition. All are fallen victims of it. In monsoon time, the locality road turns into muddy and slippery field. One becomes extra cautious while maneuvering the uneven road. There is no evenness in the level of the road. It seems the denizens of New Lambulane have mastered the condition and thus dont care whether the road is muddy or black topped.

Outsiders are satirically talking about the condition especially of our lovely turned ugly road condition. One of my friends from T-Colony said to me that that we the people of New Lambulane have great number of rich people but care for our own benefits and not for the society. Some people in fb are claiming that their village road is far better than the road here. It pains me to think that New Lambulane would soon become a mockery playground. There is a lack of co-ordination between denizens, denizens-leaders and betweens leaders. Cant we do slowly and little by little our needful to bring about change in the fate of our road and other condition?    

It is human nature to cherish private property and depreciate public property. But there can be no public without you and me. Public property means combine property of yours as well as mine. Private property cannot exist alone out of public property just as you cannot exist alone on earth. Nourishing own property while ignoring public property is like a woman who takes good care of her looks but ignores her other parts of body.
